ABOUT

Welcome to our 19-acre hobby farm! CoolGard ranch was established October 2016 by Colin & Faye Ostergard. We originally started with a quarter horse/paint cross named Tina and added Bill, the blue-eyed Clydesdale.

We added Rhode Island Red chicks in the spring of 2017. This will be our third spring of chicks but this time, there’s a mother hen taking care of the chicks.

This year, the Pandemic has brought new challenges to many members of our community. Our goal is to specialize our services to provide produce to seniors with compromised immune systems.

Our combined skills make us a great team! Colin is knowledgeable in the areas of woodworking, industrial mechanics, and is a skilled handy man. He’s also become accomplished at driving his 18hh Clyde and teaching the Clyde to pull logs. Faye is an accomplished graphic designer and experienced landscaper/gardener. Both owners enjoy spending time with the animals, working the land, and learning sustainable farming practices.

  • Colin is a Reliability Specialist. He conducts predictive and diagnostic inspections on industrial equipment, including pulp & paper sites, sawmills, oil & gas refineries, and many other industries. Colin is a former aircraft mechanic with the Canadian military.
  • Faye is a sessional instructor at Vancouver Island University in the Graphic Design department. Faye teaches a wide-range of courses, including applied technology (software), web design, & professional practices.
